Kotopoulo sto Fourno: A Traditional Greek Baked Chicken Recipe

There are few dishes that simply remind me of my childhood. Unfortunately, it takes you to grow to understand how formidable it was when you were younger when the only apprehension that I had in my mind was how to play with my friends. Today, I felt a lit bit nostalgic and I decided to bake chicken with lemon potatoes (kotopoulo sto fourno me patates).

Kotopoulo sto fourno happens to be one of my beloved dishes. When I was a child, my mother used to cook this traditional Greek food almost every second Sunday! For sure, every Greek family did the same! This tradition continues, as this plate represents Greeks' gastronomic DNA.

Many of the recipes that I have been trying now are the ones that my mother used to cook us. Fortunately, I was lucky as my mother is an outstanding cook! Consequently, this is how I learned how to appreciate exceptional food. My mother has a magical way to cook everything marvelous as she puts love in everything she does.

When I grew up and started cooking for my family, I discovered that this baked chicken recipe is quite healthy and straightforward. This kotopoulo sto fourno me patates recipe, ideal for special occasions or not, takes around two hours to prepare and cook and brings Greece to your table!

For this authentic Greek baked chicken, you need the following ingredients: chicken, potatoes, fresh lemon juice, dry garlic cloves, Greek olive oil, and dried oregano. In my opinion, it is the lemon juice that turns this into an extraordinary dish. Although I have tried it without lemon juice, and it is still tasty. To bring Greece to your table, I suggest you eat this dish with a horiatiki salad!
