Traditional Tzatziki Recipe – Ingredients

  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • ½ kg of zero fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 fresh, big cucumber
  • 4 tablespoons of Greek olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Traditional Tzatziki Recipe- Instructions

  1. Start this authentic tzatziki recipe by washing the cucumber under fresh water. Remove its ends and peel it.
  2. Cut it in half lengthwise. Discard seeds. Rub cucumber on a coarse grater.
  3. Take a mortar and pestle. Mash garlic cloves. Season it with salt and pepper.
  4. Take another bowl. Add the olive oil and vinegar. Blend it well. Add it to crushed garlic.
  5. Take a deep bowl. Add yogurt.
  6. Slowly add garlic, olive oil and vinegar mixture.
  7. Add the cucumber. Stir well.
  8. Taste to see if more salt and pepper is needed. Add to taste.
  9. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the tzatziki dip for two to three hours.
  10. Serve.
