Kourabiethes with Cocoa – Ingredients

  • 850 g of flour
  • 150 g of cocoa
  • 25 g of baking powder
  • 600 g of sheep butter (or dairy butter)
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons of cognac
  • 320 g of almonds, crushed
  • Rosewater
  • Powdered sugar for topping

Kourabiethes with Cocoa – Instructions

  1. Start making kourabiethes with cocoa by taking a bowl and sifting the flour, cocoa and baking powder.
  2. Take an electric mixer bowl and add the sugar and butter. Stir around 20 minutes on medium-high speed until the mixture gets light and fluffy.
  3. Break the eggs and add them to the electric mixer bowl. Also, add the vanilla extract and cognac. Stir well all the ingredients until you get a unified mixture.
  4. Place the dough hook in your mixer. Add the flour to the mixture and stir at medium speed until you the dough is soft.
  5. Add the almonds.
  6. Preheat oven to 320°F. Take a baking pan and cover it with some parchment sheets.
  7. With a tablespoon, scoop out pieces of the dough and with the palms of your hands give it the shape you wish.
  8. Place the cookies on the baking pan.
  9. Bake until the cookies set and start to brown, about 25 minutes.
  10. Remove kourabiethes from the oven, and allow them to cool down.
  11. Sprinkle them with rosewater and immerse them in a bowl filled with powdered sugar.
  12. Place them on a plate.
