Patates Lemonates: A Traditional Greek Lemon Potatoes Recipe

This Greek roasted potatoes recipe with lemon and oregano is delicious! We have them at least once a week as this is one of my kids' favorite meals. Roasted potatoes are fantastic to eat with chicken or souvlaki. But, they are also a delicious side dish for roast lamb, pork, steak, or even beef. 

Patates lemonates recipe requires potatoes, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, garlic cloves, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. When I pick up potatoes for this recipe, I usually pick up medium-size ones. This Greek roasted potatoes recipe is easy to make. It takes you around 60 minutes to cook them. Plus, 10-20 minutes to prepare it. 

This patates lemonates recipe takes around 20 minutes to prepare and 60 minutes to bake. Moreover, it requires no cooking skills and serves six persons.

Greek Lemon Potatoes (Patates Lemonates) - Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • ½ cup of Greek olive oil
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano, dried
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Greek Lemon Potatoes (Patates Lemonates) - How to Make

  1. Start this Greek lemon potatoes recipe by washing well the potatoes under fresh water. Peel and cut them.
  2. Take a bowl. Place potatoes in the bowl.
  3. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper.
  4. Take an oven pan. Place potatoes in the pan.
  5. Pour Greek oil and lemon juice over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle them with some dried oregano.
  7. Add the garlic cloves.
  8. Add some water. Keep some hot water aside and add if potatoes are dried out.
  9. Taste to see if more salt is needed. Add to taste.
  10. Bake in the oven at medium temperature for 45 to 60 minutes.
  11. Occasionally, turn potatoes around so they are evenly roasted.
  12. Serve.
