Santorini Recipes: Authentic Dishes From The Most Beautiful Greek Island

Have you ever been in Santorini? If not, you are missing a life time experience! Santorini, also known as Thira, is the most beautiful island in the world! Built on a cliff, that was the result of a volcanic explosion, the island is famous for its breathtaking view! But, there is a lot more to that place except its exotic beauty! Apart from its view, its volcano, its love or hate beaches, the notorious island is famous for some of its delicious foods. And now that summer is here, I have gathered some of the most authentic Santorini recipes!

I have visited Santorini quite many times with my friends and my wife. The island combines everything. Vivid nightlife, unique architecture, stunning view and the world famous sunset in Oia! This is one of the few places that I could stay and do nothing except admiring the unique Aegean blue!

3 Mouthwatering Santorini Recipes

Tomatoes in Santorini are just delicious! Just because the climate is dry, all vegetables strive to grow. And as a result, all local vegetables have a unique and distinct flavor. So, two of my most favorite tomato recipes come from Santorini!

Santorini Recipes: Tomato Fritters

The first recipe from Santorini that you should try is tomatokeftedes! This is the name of the Greek traditional fritters! To make these delicious tomato patties you need the following ingredients: tomatoes, feta cheese, onion, parsley, oregano, garlic clove, flour, baking powder, olive oil, salt, and pepper. In case you are a vegetarian, you can make them without the feta cheese. Ideal for an appetizer or even as a main dish, you can enjoy tomatokeftedes with a glass of white whine! This is what I usually do.

Sun-Dried Tomato Dip

If you like dips and tomatoes, then you should try this  sun-dried tomato dip recipe from Santorini! Delicious and healthy, this dip combines all the virtues of the Greek cuisine! To  make this, you will the following ingredients: sun-dried tomatoes, Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and scallions. It will not  take you more than 15 minutes to prepare!

Greek fava recipe

Another favorite recipe from Santorini is fava! This Greek fava recipe is just mouthwatering! To make this traditional yellow split pea purée recipe you need the following ingredients: yellow split peas, water, onion, Greek olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

I am hoping to visit again my favorite island very soon. This time I will spend more time with the locals and try to collect even more delicious Santorini recipes!
