Kreatopita Recipe: A Traditional Greek Meat Pie

Kreatopita (κρεατόπιτα) is a traditional Greek meat pie. Easy to make, this delicious pita is perfect for our everyday table, but also for more special occasions! This delicious pita is a layered pastry food, made with layers of buttered phyllo and filled with a mincemeat mixture. This authentic Greek meat pie using phyllo pastry is one of my favorite ones. My mother used to make it all the time when I was a kid and I often make it for my children. There are many alternatives to this traditional kreatopita recipe. You can make this Greek meat pie with bechamel (white sauce) or with more yellow cheese. If you like light flavors, you should try this pie without the bechamel sauce. Anyways, this kreatopita recipe I share with you uses bechamel and serves around 8-10 persons.

For extra flavor, you can add 1 spoon of tomato sauce and some chopped bacon or ham. This kreatopita recipe takes around one hour and a half to prepare and around 50 minutes to bake. You may also find this Greek meat pie with the name kimadopita (κιμαδόπιτα) as its main meat ingredient is ground beef (κιμάς).
