Kataifi Recipe: A Greek Traditional Homemade Walnut Pastry in Syrup

This kataifi recipe is absolutely delicious! Kataifi, along with galaktoboureko and baklava, is one of the most popular and delicious traditional Greek desserts. Golden, crispy and incredibly moist, kataifi is made with roughly chopped walnuts and almonds scented with ground clove and cinnamon, wrapped in buttered crispy kataifi dough and bathed in scented syrup.  What is great with kataifi is that you can keep it out of the refrigerator for a couple of weeks. If you want to keep it crispy, try not to cover it.

This traditional kataifi recipe gives around 30 to 35 pieces. It takes around one hour to prepare and around 40 to 50 minutes to bake. In summer, Greeks like to eat their kataifi with vanilla ice cream!
