Kanelonia Me Kima: A Greek Meat Cannelloni Recipe

In order to cook kanelonia me kima you need the following ingredients: cannelloni, minced beef, onions, white wine, tomato paste, Parmesan, roast ham (optional), eggs, parsley, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, butter, Greek olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Kanelonia me kima (κανελόνια με κιμά in Greek) takes around 50 minutes to prepare and 55-60 minutes to cook. This recipe serves six to eight persons. Although, this recipe may sound a bit complicated, cooking kanelonia me kima is worth every effort. I am sure you will remember me once you taste them. Kanelonia me kima – Ingredients

  • 500 g of cannelloni
  • 350 g of minced beef
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup of white wine
  • 1 tbsp. of tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
  • 100 g of roast ham, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 32- ounce can Italian plum tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. of breadcrumbs
  • Nutmeg
  • Greek olive oil
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Kanelonia me kima – Instructions

  1. Start making this Greek authentic meat cannelloni recipe by making the meat cannelloni filling. Take a non-stick pan, add some olive oil. Dry-fry the minced beef over medium-high heat by stirring it with a wooden spoon until it gets a nice brown color. Add one onion and stir until it dries.
  2. Now, add the wine and the roast ham (optional), salt, pepper, nutmeg and one tablespoon of tomato paste diluted in some water. Simer until all liquids are absorbed.
  3. Lightly beat the eggs. Once you remove the pot from oven, add some of the parsley, grated cheese, breadcrumbs, and stir well with a wooden spoon. Allow the meat cannelloni filling to cool down.
  4. Prepare the tomato sauce by taking a pot and adding some olive oil. Bring to boil over medium-high temperature, add the onion and cook until the onion gets a brown color. Add the plum tomatoes, salt, pepper, and simmer until the sauce gets thick. Add some parsley.
  5. Preheat oven to 392°F and grease well a baking pan. Take a small spoon and fill each cannelloni with the minced beef filling and place it in the baking pan.
  6. Pour over the cannelloni the tomato sauce, cover the baking pan with some aluminum foil and cook for around 45 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil and sprinkle the cannelloni with some grated cheese. Place again the kanelonia me kima in the oven for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and they get a nice color.
  7. Remove from oven and serve while hot.
