Chocolate Vasilopita Recipe – Ingredients

  • 2 teacups of flour
  • 2 teacups of sugar
  • 1 teacup of butter at room temperature
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ of teacup of milk
  • 100 g of couverture chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of  cinnamon
  • ½ of teaspoon of clove
  • A small portion of nutmeg
  • 50 g of golden raisin
  • 30 g of whiskey
  • 1 teacup of cocoa and some extra cocoa for topping
  • A clean silver coined wrapped well in aluminum foil


 

Chocolate Vasilopita Recipe – Instructions

  1. Start this vasilopita chocolate cake recipe by preheating oven to 356°F.
  2. Stir well the butter and sugar in mixer’s bowl.
  3. Add the eggs and the milk. Stir well.
  4. Add the flour, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Continue to stir well.
  5. Finally, add the whiskey, golden raisins, couverture chocolate, and the cocoa. Stir the ingredients very well.
  6. Take a round baking pan. Butter it well and sprinkle it with some flour. Place the wrapped coin in the pan and cover it with as your pour the mixture into the pan.
  7. Bake for around 55 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and allow the chocolate vasilopita to cool down.
  9. Sift with some cocoa over top or with some powdered sugar.
